Inca Jungle Trek Weather: What to Expect by Season

When I did the Inca Jungle Trek, I quickly realized how important it is to choose the right season. The weather changes everything — from how enjoyable the trek feels to how challenging the trails get.

I went during the dry season (May to September), and honestly, I think it’s the best time. The days were mostly sunny, the skies clear, and there was barely any rain. Mornings and nights were chilly, especially at higher points like Abra Málaga, but once we got into the jungle areas, it warmed up nicely. I loved waking up to cool air and then hiking in the sunshine during the day.

Locals told me that during the rainy season (November to March), the trek is a completely different story. The trails can get really muddy and slippery, and heavy rains are common, especially in the afternoons. Some parts might even become tricky to pass. On the plus side, everything looks super green and alive, but you definitely have to be ready for wet clothes and tougher conditions.

My Recommendation:

If you want to enjoy the trek without worrying about rain and mud, go during the dry season (May to September).
If you prefer lush landscapes and don’t mind getting wet, the rainy season could still be an adventure — but be prepared!

For me, doing it in the dry season made everything smoother and more fun. I could focus on the adventure and the views, without stressing about the weather.
